    Mid-Winter 2022 Update

We are still swimming. We are still practicing and competing. Other teams have not been so lucky, experiencing 2-3 week shutdowns when a few positive tests have popped up with their swimmers. I'm grateful our team is in this position. It looks like this latest surge of infections is leveling out. It feels like we, as a group, are learning how to live with this. That said, swimmers with symptoms and positive tests continue to pop up every week or two. Thank you to everyone who has remained vigilant with noticing these symptoms and conducting the tests. This assures our program will continue run as we demonstrate our diligence to the YMCA and maintain alignment with its COVID policies and expectations.

The transition to SwimTopia has gone…as expected. A small group with SwimTopia accounts from previous teams are experiencing some issues. I'm straightening it out. I started this transition mid-season to ensure the majority of us could hit the ground running when the next season begins. Registration for future seasons can be accomplished entirely here, in SwimTopia. The communication system isn't as comprehensive as TeamSnap's, but it works. According to developers, it is being improved.

We are 100% not using TeamSnap as of a week ago. You might be able to see some stuff, but it's not being updated/maintained. I "archived" the team.

The meet calendar for the remainder of the season is being updated here in SwimTopia. The YMCA District Meet, Jan. 29-30, never took shape and is not on the calendar. We have a Home Meet Feb. 6. The USA Regionals Championship at UVAC is Feb 11-13(distance events Friday the 11th). New England Swimming has not provided a meet template to the hosts of the Silver Championships. This is interesting. Clearly, they're waiting to see if COVID policies will affect the end-of-season March meets.

Thanks to those contributing to our fund-raising efforts. We've acquired some high-quality fins, pulling straps, and paddles. Two, large TVs to support the execution of practice will be installed soon and a LaserJet now sits in the Aquatics Office to support Morgan and the Aquatics Staff who have been really great this year in helping the swim team to run smoothly.
