    The Home Stretch

The 2025-26 winter season has been action-packed; so many great stories, so many stellar results, many new faces, a new coach, and a significant upgrade with our new Kinetix program. But, all of this will be retold at our winter season banquet on April 11. Please RSVP for that. It's potluck. It's a good time.

HOWEVER, Punxsutawney Phil called it; definitely more winter in our future and the season is not over. 16 more practices for Silver and Gold. 9 more practices for the Duskys. 7 more practices for the Strypers and Spinners attending the MIT meet.

This weekend Dominic and Luke head down to WPI for the 15-18 New England Championships. On Sunday morning 29 of our 14 & Unders head to UVAC for a pentathlon meet. Then we dig in for two more weeks of hard work followed by one easy week of micro-taper before our favorite meet of the season.

Forty of you signed up for Bowling Night! Good times this Friday!

There are some big changes on the horizon. We'll have a regular LCM spring and summer program with Kinetix and the same practice schedule we followed this season. The spring and summer meet schedule is 90% decided. We'll host a couple of meets and have a couple of cookouts. The practice schedule and fees can be found here.

We'll begin work on becoming a SafeSport-certified team. We also will be asking parents to step up and become educated as meet officials. KYD has a tradition of having a full flight of USA Swimming-trained meet officials. We need your help. It will change your perspective on the sport. It will significantly affect your swimmer's dedication and motivation. Just ask a current official.

SwimTopia just released a nice software update, but the communications component is still sparse. We need a richer, dependable, trackable, secure, communications experience that works well on all devices and platforms. We'll be using WhatsApp beginning April 13. You may want to download that and learn how to use it. I know many of you already use it. Invites will be sent to the KYD WhatsApp groups during the first week of April.

The team will grow quite a bit next fall as we bring more swimmers on board directly from the swim lessons program. The Junior Dolphins program will remain an option, but we want to get kids racing! We will increase our competitiveness with more swimmers while improving the quality of our program with a new Kinetix program designed for Duskys.

    So:

    • The winter season ends in 25 days.
    • The spring season starts in 47 days.
    • RSVP for the banquet.
    • Download WhatsApp.

    All the best,
    The KYD Coaching Staff
