2024 Spring Season
The 2024 Spring Season will mark a significant shift in the Dolphins’ training process. Megan will continue her exceptional work with the Spinners and Strypers. We have 4 new swimmers graduating from the Jr. Dolphins into the Spinners group. Menachi is the perfect gatekeeper for the Jr. Dolphins. Her years of experience with lessons and her own experiences with high school swimming are ensuring kiddos are ready for their first steps into competitive swimming.
We have officially hired Sophia Vieira as an Assistant Coach. Sophia’s main focus is Dryland Training, which we will continue to call Kinetix. Sophia swam competitively and participated in several other sports during her high school years. She’s a Keene State College student studying physical education and sports management. She’s also a certified fitness trainer and works in the Y’s Fitness Center. We are super-excited to have Sophia onboard to fortify our Kinetix program.
Putting together the Spring Season is always a bit messy. The challenge is allocating pool space and assigning coaches to groups of swimmers that haven’t yet registered for the spring session. Fortunately, we have 28 swimmers committed. So, the practice schedule will look something like this(It’s complicated as usual):
Spinners—May 7-June 13
Tuesday & Thursday: 4:30-5:30
Strypers—May 7-June 13
Tuesday & Thursday: 5:30-6:30
Duskys—April 30-June 6
Tuesday & Thursday: 5:30-7:00
Juniors & Seniors—April 29-June 6
M,W,F: 4:30-6:30. T,Th–4:30-5:30 (optional swim 5:30-7)
Note the different start and end dates.
Seniors and Juniors are expected to commit 4 days/week. The Kinetix is required. Swimming one or twice per week and not doing the Kinetix program isn’t acceptable. Committed swimmers won’t be lifting on their own this spring. Kinetix will be supervised and customized for each swimmer after a couple of weeks of assessment by Sophia.
- We will be competing.
- We are committed to a structured, goal-oriented program.
We had a dozen swimmers consistently arriving or departing late from practices during the winter season. This is no longer acceptable. Clearly, we aren’t communicating to you that this is significantly disruptive, ESPECIALLY those arriving late. Missing the first 15 minutes of practice is simply not acceptable. We will no longer make these exceptions. They erode the quality of the program. We will implement a suspension policy if swimmers arrive late. We are prepared for your reactions to this policy. That said, it’s okay if a swimmer misses a practice or two every month. Just send us a note. It’s helpful to know who’s sick, traveling, or adjusting to a new schedule.
